The Intersect Project is a commitment by MLC to:
We are forming ongoing relationships with local nonprofits (Community Partners); instead of creating our own projects, we get to work with these nonprofits to support their work where they are already addressing specific needs in our local community!
Through these partnerships, service opportunities will be made available in which community groups can participate. You cannot be involved in these service opportunities unless you are in a community group, so sign up today!
Serving should be simple: Everyone in every community group should be able to participate!
Serving keeps the church relevant: Service doesn’t just make the church relevant to those serving; it also makes us relevant to those we serve.
We promote service because service reflects the heart of God. Our motivation is to be a church that fully embraces the gospel while serving the needy in our community!
Serving is transformational: Serving is less about serving a meal or raising money for a cause and more about creating a place where lives are most likely to be changed through engagement with other people. In the process, BOTH individuals are changed.
Serving is a catalyst for growth in relationships: MLC’s mission is to lead people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ by creating relevant environments where people are encouraged and equipped to pursue intimacy with God, community with insiders, and influence with outsiders.
We grow in our intimacy with God when serving because in scripture it's clear that God's heart tips towards the marginalized. Therefore, we strive to set up opportunities for people to serve others as a reflection of God's heart.
Second, we grow in our community with insiders because something special happens when we serve together, especially when we pool our time, skills, and resources. Service becomes more fun!
Lastly, we grow in our influence with outsiders because service is an excellent invest and invite opportunity.
Individual and community transformation!
Service is equally about what happens to us when we serve as it is what we''re actually doing.
Serving changes our perspective by broadening your nderstanding of the world.
Serving gets involved and transforms our hearts.
Ultimately, service will move from being a duty to being part of our identity!
